It’s Got Nift
We just finished the launch of arguably the largest site we (XPRT Creative) have completed up to this point. With well over 2500 pages and a lot of planning, love and effort, we launched a spectacular, customized web site for VSU Athletics– the Blazerzone.
We are still adding content to populate news releases, statistics and former players — and adding a couple of additional modules which will make this site an even greater asset to VSU Athletics, current, future and past players, college sports fans, sponsors and donors alike.
The site is feature rich, but not to the point where it’s overbearing. Paired with a back end admin interface that makes it all manageable by a normal human being, the level of customization we offer for various layouts and designs make it a must see. You won’t find pages hanging off a layout just because the content didn’t fit the original plans of the design (what would be the point?).
You might say that it’s nifty. Yes, this site definitely has Nift.
Nift refers to the technology-related characteristic(s) that are bang-up, bully, corking, cracking, dandy, not bad, peachy, slap-up, smashing, swell, groovy, keen, great, neat.
nift /nĭft/ Slang
a. A technological stratum containing capabilities, functions or modules that share certain useful and creative characteristics; marked by ingenuity and skill; adroit: the website that rocks.
b. Online social networks rank or caste, especially high rank.
c. Informal capabilities of speed, style, and function.Be sure to share this with your friends and colleagues — send the link in an e-mail and mention how creative and inspiring it is. Maybe we can coin a new phrase for the online community. It can be the buzz phrase of the next decade.
All that aside, please, if you can, take the time to check out Blazerzone and let me know what you think. Looking forward to seeing some comments on this one — good or bad, do tell.

Hmm…. that word looks familiar… like maybe we came up with it at some odd hour of the morning when we were both barely able to speak coherently due to severe exhaustion.
Out of curiosity I just loaded the chat history and reread our conversation where we created the term. Here is the general idea of our discussion:
General Topic: The auto-reply emails for the athlete questionnaires
Specific Topic: The color of the text in the email.
Original/default color setting: Blue
-Your requested color: Black
My reply: Black would defeat the purpose of adding style to the email. It would look plain and boring just like any other email.
-Your reply: No it wouldn’t.
Me: I insisted that it would and that leaving it black would be by replying: “I know - but I know that emails that are plain text and black look NON NIFTY”)
You suggested that I use dark gray and I did. You then said that you liked this format and “It’s ALL ABOUT THE NIFT!!!!!”
The above conversation took place just before 2 AM on 8-27-2007 in case anyone ever wonders where that word’s usage began.
I think this comment just proves that I am solidly in the “nerd” category forever.

oops - I forgot to mention that we each only got about 3 hours of sleep the night BEFORE this conversation took place.
